Snoopy Pictures
Another fictional character, Snoopy is a part of famous long-running Peanuts. He is a beagle and pet of Charlie Brown. Since it was more dynamic than the rest of the characters, it became very recognizable and likable. His first appearance was in October 1950. Its originally planned name was not Snoopy though. It was to be named Sniffy. However, this name was already used by a few other characters of the times in comic strips.
For the initial 2 years, this character was silent. Its thoughts first came out in 1952 as thought balloons. In beginning days, it would use only single-word phrases. One of the examples if Food. After this, its thoughts became articulate. Other characters of Peanuts are able to read the thoughts of Snoopy. As the character of Snoopy evolved further, it started thinking of itself as a human. It became one of the most prominent characters and was very famous too. Its last appearance was on 13th Feb, 2000.
Snoopy was aerospace testing, rebuilding and safety’s official mascot in Apollo program. The lunar module of Apollo 10 was nicknamed Snoopy. On the other hand, Charlie Brown was the nickname of command module. These modules were not a part of official mission logo. The special NASA honor is Silver Snoopy award which is given as Snoopy engraved on sterling silver pin. It is an honor of the astronaut who is able to pursue safety and quality in every way on the space program. Also, it the mascot of US Air Force computer systems control.
